Hey everyone! I'm Stephanie Hilber and am a Senior at Champlain College in the beautiful Burlington, Vermont. Being from a small town like Greenfield, New Hampshire (for those of you who do not know where that is, probably most of you, it is in southern New Hampshire about an hour outside of Manchester.). I love having everything close by and having so many different options for gas stations, restaurants and entertainment. There is always something going on. My experience with media has many been through movies, music and books. I love taking a book outside in the summer, playing some music and tanning. One book that I could not put down was Sarah Dessen's Lock and Key.
It was unbelievable writing that made me feel like everyone was dealing with the same struggles I was. I love that books can give you an escape from reality and take you anywhere that you want to be. Another thing that I like about media and the technological shift it has undertaken over the last ten years is that I can go online and get most of my information for anything that I want to learn about. It is a fascinating tool that makes it easy for people to learn about the world around them, even if they don't want to change out of their pajamas. One thing that I do not like about the media and it's basis on technology is the many forms of communication that people use. Right now there is Facebook, AIM, blogging, cell phones, texting, and e-mails, and all of these forms can be used at one time by different people, and keeping track of conversations is impossible.
My professional aspirations are to be in the Public Relations industry, or at least in the Communications business because I love writing, working with people, and after my internships with a local Public Relations and Communications firm as well as an e-commerce company I like the work that I was doing there.
